ALUMINIUM DRINKING CANS: THE CO2 EMISSIONS ARE REDUCED

Metal Packaging Europe has completed a new Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of aluminium beverage cans (25, 33 and 50cl).

Using the most recent data available (2016), the study treats the life cycle of aluminium cans for beverages produced in Europe, from the extraction of raw materials to production and at the end of the packaging’s life.

Compared with the 2006 data, it results a significant reduction in terms of CO2-equivalent emissions. The carbon footprint has been reduced by an impressive 31% on average for the three formats considered, confirming the commitment of our industry to reduce emissions and disconnect production growth from environmental impact.
