Efficient

Metal packaging ensures exceptional performance in all supply chain stages.

The filling process is the fastest.

It is easy to transport and to pile and it facilitates the distribution.

It doesn’t need refrigeration and it saves up to 70% of energy consumption for the whole supply chain.

Metal packaging does not require an external (secondary) packing for the transport.

Safe

Metal packaging is Unbreakable impact-resistant and puncture-resistant. Withstand extreme temperatures and pressure, keeping the characteristics of the contents intact. The risk of breakage is minimal even during transport.

Provide a total barrier against light, gas and oxygen.

Steel and aluminium packaging products stay fresh longer, also with high temperatures.

Metal packaging offers the best solution for dangerous goods.

It offers a safe solution for the distribution of aerosol products to the consumer.

Sustainable

Every day, Anfima supports its own members offering them useful information to increase knowledge about the importance of the environmental impact of metal packaging production and employment. Since the 90s, Anfima worked hard to found the current Conai system that permits to obtain excellent recycle results for low costs, compared to other European systems and it applies itself to create relationships with sector companies to sensitise and offer them all useful information, with the awareness that steel or aluminium packaging are always eco-friendly.

ANFIMA collaborates with RICREA and CIAL (steel and aluminium recycling consortia)

to introduce to the general public the sustainable characteristics of steel and aluminium packaging as permanent materials that can be 100% recycled forever.

Circular Economy
The metal packaging industry is the perfect example of a circular economy, with metal recycling forever in a material-to-material loop. When a metal product reaches the end of its useful life, the material is never lost. Through recycling, its value is retained forever, making it available today and for future generations.
Permanent materials
Steel and aluminium are permanent materials. After their use, they can be recycled forever without losing quality, being always available for future generations.
Mono-materials
Made with a single material, steel and aluminium packaging and closures are easier and cheaper to differentiate and recycle. They are completely recyclable and can be transformed into new raw material for infinite times.
Recycle
When metal products reach the end of their useful life, the materials are simply collected and recycled, again and again, with no loss of their inherent properties. This is known as real recycling. The metal packaging industry and its recycling stakeholders are committed to a real-recycling society.
Italy and Europe

In 2018 in Italy, 78,6% of steel packaging and 80,2% of aluminium packaging were recycled.
Metal packaging is the most recycled packaging in Europe.
Anti-waste
FAO estimates that ⅓ of the food produced around the world is wasted. It should be sufficient to keep in good health for 4 times the number of malnourished people.
Cans are employed as food storage, preserving future use of crops in every kind of logistical and climatic conditions.
Thanks to the longest shelf life, it is the packaging with the lowest waste rates.
